Detailed Overview

CPD 1

 Training Focus: Learning to Swim, Water Safety and the introduction of swimming strokes.

• Pre- course preparation and reading (2 -3 hours)
• One full day Face-to-Face, or online equivalent on Theory and Practice; includes tutor led practical Pool work and assessment – with and/or without pupils. (7+ hours as required)
• Access to a post course forum for reflection as you put the learning into practice; teachers share experience with each other and/or with the Tutor as part of our own online ‘group’.
• Access to continued support – usually by email or online.

CPD 2

(Applicants should have attended CPD 1 or equivalent before attending CPD2)

Training Focus: Improving Swimming Strokes and Competences and developing teaching confidence and practice.

  • Pre- course preparation and reading (2 -3 hours)
  • One full day Face-to-Face, or online equivalent on Theory and Practice; includes tutor led practical Pool work and assessment – with and/or without pupils. (7+ hours as required)
  • Access to a post course forum for reflection as you put the learning into practice; teachers share experience with each other and/or with the Tutor as part of our own online ‘group’.
  • Access to continued support – usually by email or online.

Alternative Option for where federations and academies are able to organise their own venue for face to face and practical work.

Tried and Tested 12–15 hour bespoke modular, blended learning CPD.

  • Pre- course preparation and reading (2 -3 hours)
  • One full day Face-to-Face, or online equivalent on Theory and Practice; includes tutor led practical Pool session – with and/or without pupils. (7+ hours as required)
  • An agreed period for post course reflection and putting it all into practice; teachers share experience with each other and/or with the Tutor as part of our own online ‘group’. This is followed by:
  • A Plenary or ‘loose ends’  session which is usually a visit to observe teaching and share final thoughts, ask more questions, request further resources. (1-2 hours) It could be an after-school
  • Continued support – usually by email or online but in some cases a further visit over the next school term.
